NEW YEAR, NEW SIMPLY

by - Monday, January 14, 2019

Over the past three years, we as Simply Print, have learned and experienced a lot. You don’t get a handy-dandy guidebook when you start your own small business, so we were taught by trial and error, especially so in those first two years. Last year, it seemed like we finally hit our stride, and even though one of us moved away, we made it work because we had to, Simply Print is our baby.

We locked down on some amazing clients that relied on our constant work ethic. With that influx of steady work (and steady paychecks) we kind of lost sight of why we started Simply Print for ourselves. We originally longed for the flexibility to create things we wanted to create along with client work. But instead we found ourselves putting the work that pays the bills ahead of our creative endeavors. We were lead to believe that working constantly meant that we made it, that we accomplished a goal for a small business. We worked odd hours (early mornings, late into the nights) and even on weekends and holidays.

We admit that at first, it did feel really good to be working all the time but from springtime to beginning of winter, we were “on call” for work. Hence why you heard from us very sparingly, we were hustling and bustling. During the holiday break we were able to rest and reflect on our best year yet. However, being burnt out from all that work, we came to conclusion that we lost that creativity and inspiration we once had an abundance of in the beginning.

So we made a unanimous decision to MAKE time for creativity in 2019, to have those creative juices flow in our bodies again. It may be hard when it’s crunch time, or when there are a lot of projects to juggle at once, but to look forward to working towards our own endeavors will make it worth it. Without sounding too “New Years Resolution”-y, this year we want to put ourselves out more. Not only because we don’t want you thinking we fell off the face of the Earth, but to hold ourselves accountable for our own happiness, our own definition of success. We got a lot going on planned for 2019, so thank you for sticking with us during our “year of online absence.” We’re excited to share what’s going on in the coming months!

♥,
Megan & Tammy
